Roland Lassus – Orlando di Lasso

Following the pandemic and the 2023 celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Tallis Scholars, we are delighted to be able to offer this course again.

This year we focus on the music of Roland Lassus,  a multi-faceted and prolific composer of over 2,000 works. His origins are Franco-Flemish and like many musicians of his generation went to work in Italy, absorbing both Venetian and Roman influences. One of the most popular composers during his lifetime, he spent his later years based in Munich, where he was a sought-after teacher, including both Andrea and Giovanni Gabrieli as his students.

During the week we shall examine and perform a wide range of his sacred music.
